For over two decades, The One Ummah Foundation (OUF) has been a steadfast supporter of the Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Pakistan (CLAPP), working hand in hand to provide life-changing care to those who need it most. CLAPP, founded in 2003 in Faisalabad, Pakistan, has one mission: to offer free surgeries to underprivileged children born with cleft lip and palate conditions, empowering them from being "disabled to enabled" with a single surgery.
Since its inception, CLAPP has been a beacon of hope for families that cannot afford the medical procedures their children desperately need. The organization initially launched its free surgery program at Punjab Medical College, Allied Hospital, in Faisalabad, where more than 1,000 patients were treated. By 2005, CLAPP expanded its operations, moving the program to Lahore in order to reach even more children across Pakistan.
With the continuous support of OUF, CLAPP has achieved phenomenal milestones, having completed over 46,000 life-altering surgeries. The numbers speak volumes:
200 Surgical Missions
23,968 patients operated during Surgical Missions
22,041 patients treated at the CLAPP Hospital in Lahore
OUF’s contribution has gone far beyond just financial assistance. Their partnership with CLAPP represents a shared vision of creating a future where every child, regardless of their socio-economic status, has the chance to lead a normal life. Together, they are ensuring that no family has to bear the burden of choosing between their child’s future and their financial stability. Over the years, CLAPP’s collaboration with OUF has allowed the organization to build a robust network of volunteers, medical professionals, and benefactors. This network enables CLAPP to extend its outreach, organizing surgical missions not only in major cities but also in remote regions where healthcare facilities are scarce. These missions have been critical in offering treatment to children who otherwise would have had no access to specialized medical care.
The impact of OUF and CLAPP’s work goes beyond the numbers. Every surgery performed not only changes the life of the patient but also uplifts entire families. Children who were once socially isolated and unable to communicate properly are now thriving in their communities. Parents who were worried about their child’s future now have hope and confidence that their children can lead fulfilling lives.
A Journey of Compassion and Hope
OUF and CLAPP’s collaboration is more than just a medical intervention; it is a journey of compassion, empathy, and hope. The transformative surgeries not only repair physical defects but also restore dignity and self-worth to children who had been marginalized by their conditions.
As they move forward, both organizations remain committed to ensuring that no child in Pakistan suffers the consequences of a condition that can be treated with timely medical intervention. Their combined efforts have helped foster a new generation of healthy, happy children who can pursue education, social activities, and personal dreams without the limitations imposed by cleft lip and palate conditions.
In essence, OUF’s unwavering support has been instrumental in allowing CLAPP to expand its reach, operate on tens of thousands of patients, and provide a brighter future for children and families across Pakistan. Their partnership exemplifies the power of global solidarity, showing that when compassionate organizations unite for a common cause, lives are transformed, and communities are strengthened.
As we look to the future, OUF and CLAPP continue their mission, undeterred by challenges, fueled by the success stories of the countless lives they’ve already touched. Together, they will keep turning disabilities into abilities, one surgery at a time.
