Established in 1971, Markaz-e-Umeed became a school for special needs children. At a time when there were no Departments at the Government level for Special persons (set up in 1985) and no visible efforts for the recognition of disabled population, the Markaz was set up as a special initiative at Karimabad where it still stands today and where there are still very few or no schools for children with disa bilities
Its founder, Mr. lmdad Siddiqui, began this noble endeavor with the strength of only 5 students. To date, Markaz-e-Umeed has helped more than 10,000 Special Students get Special education & training over the past 45 years.
Today the school caters to the needs of over 200 special needs children, those who suffer from mental and physical disabilities.
