Free Medical & Eye Camp in Leprosy Hospital

On July 20th, 2025, a free Medical and Eye Camp was successfully held at Leprosy Hospital, serving as a beacon of hope for those who struggle to access basic healthcare. This initiative catered to the medical needs of 175 patients, offering a full range of health services, all free of cost.

The camp was organized with the intention of reaching underprivileged members of society who often miss out on regular medical care due to financial or logistical challenges. In areas where healthcare infrastructure is limited and affordability is a major barrier, such efforts make a meaningful difference.

A team of dedicated doctors, nurses, and volunteers worked throughout the day to ensure patients received quality care in a respectful and organized environment. The services provided at the camp included:

  • General OPD consultations
  • BMI (Body Mass Index) and vital signs assessment
  • Eye check-ups to identify vision issues and eye diseases
  • Blood sugar testing for early detection of diabetes
  • Cholesterol testing
  • Distribution of free medicines to patients based on their diagnoses

Patients of all age groups, children, adults, and elderly, attended the camp. For many, it was their first opportunity in months or even years to consult a doctor. In addition to treatment, the medical team offered basic health awareness, encouraging preventive care and healthier lifestyles.

What set this camp apart was not just the services offered, but the compassion with which they were delivered. Each patient was treated with dignity, and special attention was given to the elderly and those with mobility issues. The doctors patiently explained conditions and treatment plans, ensuring that no patient left confused or unheard.

The initiative also brought awareness to common but neglected health concerns, such as high blood sugar and cholesterol, silent conditions that, if undetected, can lead to serious health complications. By catching these early, the camp empowered patients to take proactive steps toward better health.

Medicines were provided free of charge, removing another hurdle faced by many low-income families. Each patient left the camp with not only treatment but also the reassurance that someone cares about their well-being.

The success of this medical and eye camp would not have been possible without the combined efforts of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and donors whose contributions ensured a smooth and impactful event.

As we reflect on the outcomes, this camp is a reminder that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. It emphasizes how even a one-day camp, when done with sincerity and planning, can touch countless lives and inspire lasting change in a community.

The Leprosy Hospital team looks forward to organizing more such initiatives in the future, continuing its mission to bring medical care to those who need it most.
