This is an unbelievable human catastrophe on a scale not seen since World War II. This is what we are seeing and hearing in Bangladesh right now. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees are living in makeshift shelters, with their lives hanging in the balance. Families have been torn apart by ethnic cleansing - horrific and inhumane actsinflicted on them in Myanmar. The mention of possibly returning to Myanmar terrifies these people who have witnessed atrocities such as their young children being killed by soldiers. The Rohingya crisis is complicated. They are the most persecuted group of people in the world with no statehood, no home, and little hope. Right now, they are focussing on survival - and it’s tough. Women and children are pumping water and transporting it 4 times a day up a large hill 45 degrees or more. That is, until the monsoon comes and the real challenges begin.
