131 Cataract Surgeries with New Phaco Machine

In June 2025, One Ummah Foundation (OUF) proudly supported the installation of the Swiss Phaco Oertli Machine at Al Rayyaz Hospital, a milestone that has since transformed the hospital’s capacity to perform modern cataract surgeries. In just four months of operation, from June to September 2025, the hospital successfully performed 131 cataract surgeries, 52 paid and 79 zakat-based free surgeries, restoring the gift of sight to dozens of deserving patients.

A Milestone in Modern Eye Care

With the introduction of the Swiss Phaco Oertli Machine in June 2025, Al Rayyaz Hospital has enhanced its eye care services, enabling smoother and more efficient cataract surgeries. This advancement reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving patient outcomes and providing quality healthcare to all.

The new Phaco system uses ultrasonic precision technology to safely remove cataracts with minimal incisions, ensuring faster recovery, reduced complications, and better visual outcomes. This innovation has allowed the hospital to perform surgeries efficiently and provide high-quality care to both paying and financially supported patients.

Impact in Numbers

Since its installation, the machine has been in consistent use, with impressive results:

Each number reflects not just a medical procedure, but a life changed. For many of these patients, cataracts had limited their independence, productivity, and quality of life. Through this initiative, individuals who once struggled to see can now return to work, care for their families, and live with dignity.

Serving with Compassion

The Zakat-funded surgeries are particularly meaningful. Supported entirely through charitable contributions, these procedures were offered free of charge to patients who could not afford the cost of surgery. This approach ensures that no one is denied treatment because of financial limitations, a principle deeply rooted in both the mission of Al Rayyaz Hospital and the values of One Ummah Foundation.

The hospital’s medical team has been commended for its dedication, ensuring every patient, regardless of financial status, receives the same level of care, comfort, and follow-up attention.

A Partnership for Vision and Hope

The collaboration between One Ummah Foundation and Al Rayyaz Hospital continues to demonstrate how strategic support and compassion can create lasting change. The success of these 131 surgeries is not just a statistic, it represents 131 stories of renewed sight, restored hope, and transformed lives.

As the hospital continues to operate with the new Phaco Machine, it aims to reach even more patients in the coming months, expanding access to safe, high-quality eye care.
