But perhaps the most devastating detail is this: 90% of people’s homes were inundated with dirty, contaminated floodwater up to and even above roof level. These homes are not just damaged; they are unrecoverable. Families are returning to find their belongings dissolved in mud, their walls collapsed, and their life savings gone. Not even a pin can be salvaged. Everything must be rebuilt from scratch.
