The Power of Partnership: Combating Child Labor and Trafficking in Ghana

In December 2023, The One Ummah Foundation and Volta Revival Foundation joined forces with a shared goal: to end child labor and trafficking in Ghana. This partnership exemplifies the transformative impact that community-based non-profit organizations can achieve when collaborating with larger entities.

With an initial grant of $1,000 from The One Ummah Foundation, the Volta Revival Foundation sprang into action, leveraging the funds to make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors of forced labor and trafficking. The foundation prioritized education as a critical intervention, using the donation to pay the school fees of 67 survivors, ensuring that they are equipped with the tools and opportunities to break free from the cycle of exploitation.

One poignant example of the partnership’s impact is the story of a high school student whose education was disrupted due to financial constraints. Unable to afford boarding fees and supplies, she faced the grim prospect of being forced into labor in the hospitality sector by her neglectful mother. However, thanks to the intervention of the Volta Revival Foundation and The One Ummah Foundation, the student’s trajectory changed dramatically.

Through the partnership's support, the student could return to school filled with newfound hope and gratitude. Her dreams of becoming a fashion designer and seamstress now seem within reach, and she is overflowing with joy at the prospect of reclaiming her future. This heartwarming story is a testament to the life-changing impact of collaborative efforts.

Volta Revival Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to The One Ummah Foundation for their unwavering support and partnership in the fight against child labor and trafficking. Together, they provide immediate assistance to survivors and lay the foundation for a future where every child can thrive and fulfill their potential.

As they continue their collaborative efforts, the Volta Revival Foundation and The One Ummah Foundation are poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of trafficked children, not only in Ghana but around the world. Through their shared commitment to ending exploitation and providing opportunities for education and empowerment, they are paving the way for a brighter, more hopeful future for future generations.
